EMS officially stands for electromyostimulation. The following training is getting wide response from different corners. The efficacy of EMS training attracts people, especially the athletes, who are grappling with injuries. The ones who are going through rehabilitation after being recovered from injury are showing faith in EMS. Do you require EMS  training?

And that too Wireless?

So, if you need Wireless EMS, you must consult experts in the field.

But amidst the wave of possibility, there are some pertinent questions raised on the safety of the EMS systems.

In this article, we are going to discuss the possible risks and side effects that are associated with EMS Training.

EMS: How Does It Work?

While doing EMS training, the person wears a special form of suit. The following workout involves sending electrical impulses to the muscles so as to increase the muscle fibres. Slowly the strength training intensifies.

Your brain has to send electrical impulses to the neurons in muscle fibres for your muscles to be contracted.

By applying electrode pads in different parts of the muscle, trainers send electrical impulses to the muscles. As a result, the muscle contracts. This is the reason why this training is useful for people with injuries.

A study conducted at the University of Bayreuth claimed that an EMS workout given twice a week for six weeks enhances the endurance of the muscles by 69%.  This is quite an important observation.

In another study conducted by the University of Erlangen- Nuremberg, EMS training sessions are compared to high-intensity training sessions.

During intensive training sessions, a training group went on to decrease body fat and increase muscle strength; but it consumed a lot of time compared to that of EMS.

EMS And Risks Involved

It is observed already that EMS is gaining popularity with the passage of time. But is it all good?

Well..according to certain readings, there are risks associated with EMS training. EMS can cause muscle damage if the training is done improperly.

When you are taking EMS, Small muscle particles get released into the body steam. As a consequence, it damages the kidney.

Even though EMS training keeps muscles active and toned, there are chances of muscle degeneration. This can lead to early atrophy.

Other than this, there is also a risk of skin burns and skin allergies because of the electrodes.

Therefore it is recommended that training needs to be taken under the supervision of trained professionals.

EMS— Pearls & Pitfalls

Like any other treatment and training, EMS has its good as well as Bad side effects. So let’s describe it one by one.

EMS comes with benefits galore, and at the same time, it has its drawbacks if you get trained with the wrong trainer.

Pros

Like every other training session, EMS offers its good points and is deemed extremely effective! So, let’s check out how it benefits.

  • If you consider EMS training and workout alongside the intensive training, both of them are highly useful and improve muscle quality. It also reduces fats and improves stamina and endurance.
  • Studies proclaim that if the training is taken moderately, it does no harm to your body.
  • Ems stimulate muscle fibres and target those muscle groups that really don’t get much attention.
  • The electrical muscles work on each muscle; stimulate the blood flow, and leave the skin much younger. Consequently, it reduces Cellulite in your body.
  • So the workout provides those advantages that you are going to get from the actual intense workout. And of course, with less time…that’s really effective, to say the least!

Cons

Like every other treatment, EMS has its side effects, that is, negative effects.

  • When you are using EMS training, it is not recommended for long term treatment. If the training is done for the long term, it affects the muscles as well as the entire body.
  • Well, the benefits that you are going to get through are equivalent to that of the training workouts. So, why not maintain the regular fitness regimes at regular intervals?
  • If you persistently train EMS, it might cause Rhabdomyolysis, which is the breakdown of the muscle tissues. This might, in turn, have some damaging effects on your kidneys. So be aware of that.

Conclusion

There are certain positive and negative side effects associated with EMS training.

This training is deemed extremely beneficial for a short time. However, there are risks and uncertainties associated with EMS Training.

Therefore be mindful and take help from experts and professionals while you are training.
